A comforting baked pasta dish with savory sausage, creamy cheese sauce, and a blend of flavors that brings families together.
Ingredients
Scale:
12 ounces pasta (penne or rigatoni)
1 pound Italian sausage (bulk or casings removed)
1 medium onion (chopped)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
24 ounces tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add the sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
Stir in the tomato sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the sausage mixture. Mix well until coated. Season with salt and pepper.
Transfer the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
Top with shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
