Description
An effortless yet indulgent snack that perfectly balances savory sausage and rich cheddar cheese, all enveloped in flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound sausage links (your choice of mild or spicy)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (sharp or mild, shredded)
- 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures the pastry bakes evenly and becomes golden brown.
- On a clean surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets. Use a rolling pin to slightly thin them out if necessary.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet into rectangles, approximately 3 inches by 5 inches. These will envelop the sausages.
- Place a sausage link at one end of each rectangle, adding a tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the sausage.
- Roll the pastry around the sausage and cheese, sealing the edges with a bit of the beaten egg. This helps the pastry stay closed while baking.
- Place the wrapped sausages seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops of the pastry with the remaining beaten egg to achieve a shiny, golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is p■ and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-baking.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. The cheese will be hot, so be cautious when taking a bite!
