Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hoagie or sub rolls
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your Blackstone griddle over medium heat. Ensure it is well-oiled to prevent sticking.
Add the ground beef to the griddle and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
Once browned, drain any excess fat from the beef.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Sauté until the onion is translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
While the filling simmers, cut the hoagie rolls in half and toast them lightly on the griddle until golden brown.
Once the filling is ready, spoon generous portions onto each toasted hoagie roll, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Cover the sandwiches with a lid or a large metal bowl to melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve immediately.
